Line Worker

The starting rate for this position is $17.00, with incremental increases earned through developing skills and qualifications.

About the role

This position is a Processing Line Worker in a food processing (eggs) company. Under the direction of the Processing Supervisor, this role performs various tasks ensuring the highest quality product possible.

Responsibilities

• Food Safety and Food Quality
  • Perform all functions of the position with strict adherence to all HACCP, SQF, cGMP’s, and regulatory protocols.
  • Follow food safety principles.
  • Ensure that products and materials are handled and stored to prevent damage or product contamination.
  • Examine product to verify conformance to quality standards.
  • Maintain compliance with personnel and process hygiene requirements.
• Operations
  • Grade and align eggs entering the washer section.
  • Provide smooth transition of eggs from the main egg belt conveyor to the accumulating station.
  • Keep area clean, track inedible eggs, and dump inedible into auger.
  • Clean washer screens.
  • Perform chemical checks, control foam in washers, and work re-wash eggs back into egg flow.
  • Grade eggs from the washers per SOP.
  • Provide smooth transition of eggs from transfer room to breaking machine.
  • Assist as needed during breaks and clean up.
  • Grade broken eggs from the breaking machine, removing bad or blood spot eggs and shells from cups.
  • Perform clean-up duties meeting USDA standards in Breaking, Transfer, and Shell rooms after production shift has ended.

Skills

• Experience in food manufacturing or processing is desirable.
• Knowledge of safety programs and processes, such as Confined Space, LOTO, Hazcom, etc.
• Equipment operation.

Physical Demands

• Stand and walk constantly.
• Grip, grasp, push, pull, reach, bend, stoop, lift up to 10 pounds frequently.
• Sit, climb, lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Work Environment

• Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, water, and chemicals.
• Temperature is regulated for operational standards; cooler temperatures occur in specific areas.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
• Proper personal protective equipment will be required during certain working conditions.
• Employees must comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) due to working in a food manufacturing environment (e.g., hairnets, clean clothes).
