Line Worker A
About the role
Installing, maintaining and repairing overhead and underground power transmission and distribution lines and related facilities; operating equipment such as bucket truck, digger-derrick truck, back-hoe, trencher, service truck and other equipment in connection with duties; hanging transformers and connecting secondary wires; installing, repairing and replacing cross arms, leg supports, cable insulators and lightning arrestors; installing new service; performing required line work on energized and de-energized circuits; installing underground services; installing and maintaining overhead lines; trimming trees; putting up banners and decorations; assisting with a variety of emergency problems; locating underground power lines for contractors and property owners; troubleshooting and locating problems; performing necessary repair work; setting and pulling meters; helping maintain and construct substations; required to be on stand-by and work trouble calls; performing related tasks as required.
Responsibilities
- Thorough knowledge of electric line construction and maintenance and the hazards encountered
- Able to set poles, string wire and perform related work
- Able to follow oral directions
- Able to observe safety rules and regulations
- Able to read blueprints and electric circuit diagrams
- Strength to perform manual work and physical stamina to withstand working under adverse weather conditions
- Able to climb poles
- Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates
Qualifications
- Possession of an appropriate CDL driver's license valid in the Commonwealth of Virginia
- Possession of appropriate flagging and CPR certificates
Education and Experience
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and considerable experience in electric line construction and maintenance.

Annual salary $68,281.00 - $101,629.00 depending on qualifications.
