About the role

Merrill Gardens at Anthem is currently seeking Cooks to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about working with seniors and committed to supporting their wellness journey.

Responsibilities

• Aids in preparing all food items according to production amounts, recipes, and procedures.
• Ensures all food items are prepared in a timely manner, using batch-cooking and cook-to-order where appropriate to maintain freshness.
• Prepares all food products to meet the highest standards of food safety and nutritional value, catering to specific dietary needs of residents.
• Attends all scheduled dining services meetings and in-service trainings.
• Maintains kitchen sanitation and safety standards by cleaning and sanitizing work areas and equipment before and after each use.
• Follows proper food handling and storage procedures as per Merrill Gardens and state Food Safety guidelines.
• Documents temperature charts and records as per company policy and procedure.
• Completes assigned cleaning tasks to ensure compliance and sanitary standards are met.

Requirements

• A minimum of 1 year’s experience in quality food preparation.
• Experience in scratch cooking in a high-volume, fine-dining setting.
• Proficiency in computer skills including MS Outlook, Word, etc.
• One year previous dining experience in food preparation.
• A High School diploma or GED; a college degree or equivalent is preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent standing, walking, and manual handling of materials up to 50 lbs.
• Regular bending, lifting, and reaching.
