Line Cook

About the role

A Line Cook is in charge of preparing and cooking food as well as setting up other necessary supplies. They ensure everything is set up correctly before starting work, use specialized kitchen tools to prepare essential ingredients, and create finished products for the restaurant. At Jimmy’s, the primary focus is on excellence.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food items by cutting, chopping, mixing, and preparing sauces.
• Cook food items by grilling, frying, sautéing, and other methods to specified recipes and standards.
• Follow all safety and health regulations.
• Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies.
• Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff.
• Answer, report, and follow executive or sous chef’s instructions.
• Clean up the station and handle leftover food.
• Ensure that food is delivered simultaneously, with high quality, and in a timely fashion.
• Comply with nutrition, sanitation, and safety standards.
• Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and guests.
• Uphold standards of excellence and hospitality.

Requirements

• Hold a Food Handler's Card, or be able to obtain one.
• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• 2 years of cooking experience (preferred).
• 2 years of restaurant experience (preferred).
• Physical ability to walk or stand for prolonged periods.
• Ability to lift, carry, and place up to 50 pounds.
• Availability for 8‑hour shifts, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
• Capability to bend and stoop frequently.
• Ability to work in a hot environment.

Skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic understanding of, or ability to learn, sanitation and workplace safety regulations.
• Strong knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
• Ability to work well as part of a team and under pressure.
• Maintain personal cleanliness and a clean, organized work environment.
