Line Cook

About the Role

As a Healthcare Line Cook at Freedom Village of Bradenton, you will prepare all food items following standardized recipes in three traditional restaurant-style dining rooms. Menus rotate weekly, and typical shifts are from 11:30 AM to 8 PM.

Responsibilities

• Prepares all soups, stocks, and sauces; boils, braises, and roasts items as per standardized recipes.
• Prepares and serves all sautéed, fried, grilled, steamed, and baked items as per standardized recipes.
• Prepares or directs the preparation of all food served, following standard recipes and special diet orders.
• Plans food production to coordinate with meal serving hours, ensuring excellence, quality, temperature, and appearance of food.
• Determines the amount and type of food and supplies required for daily menus and ensures timely retrieval from storage.
• Maintains assigned workstation in a safe and sanitary condition.
• Maintains acceptable standards of personal hygiene and complies with the department dress code.
• Attends in-service training and education sessions as assigned.
• Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

• Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicate effectively, and perform simple arithmetic.
• Ability to understand measurements and conversions.
• Knowledgeable about batch cooking and following standardized recipes.
• Ability to plan and organize work, interpret instructions, recipes, specifications, and standards.
• Knowledge of kitchen equipment operation and maintenance.
• Knowledge of food safety, handling, and storage experience.
• Scratch cooking experience.
• Some knowledge of nutrition and diet.
