Foxdale Village, a life-plan community guided by Quaker values, is a non-profit Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) located in State College, PA. About the role
We are seeking a Limited Part-Time Line Cook to join our team, working up to 20 hours per week, including every other weekend and holiday. This role involves preparing food and serving customers at multiple stations while adhering to federal, state, and organizational standards, as well as established policies and procedures. You will work as part of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, preparing multiple orders simultaneously.
Responsibilities
- Take orders from customers and prepare items requiring short preparation time.
- Complete orders from service lines, steam tables, and serve customers at multiple stations.
- Serve customers efficiently and courteously, ensuring food is at the correct temperature and presented attractively.
- Taste all prepared food items to ensure quality.
- Follow approved recipes and production standards to maintain proper quality, serving temperatures, and portion control.
- Transport pans, kettles, and trays of food safely between workstations, stove, and refrigerator.
- Perform assigned set-up duties and properly store foods in designated areas, adhering to wrapping, dating, and food safety procedures.
- Clean, sanitize, and maintain work areas, equipment, and utensils to meet sanitation standards.
- Resolve customer concerns and report relevant information to supervisors.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following correct procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Six to twelve months of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions, correspondence, and memos.
- Effective communication skills in English, including presenting information in one-on-one and small group settings.
- Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using American units of weight, volume, and distance.
- Ability to apply common sense to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions and handle standardized situations with minimal variables.
- ServeSafe certification preferred; must be obtained within one year of hire.
