Qualifications

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent (preferred)
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in written form
  • Experience in formal cuisine and short-order cooking
  • Knife skills and general food preparation knowledge are required
  • Strong knowledge of computer and mobile device software applications
  • Must be legally qualified in the State of Alabama to pour and serve alcoholic beverages
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Must meet Park Board employment and physical standards, including a background check as well as drug and alcohol screening
  • Experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and aptitude to perform the defined duties

Responsibilities

  • Executes daily food pre-preparation activities and prepares and preheats any needed equipment, ensuring kitchen readiness
  • Prepares dining banquet for service and parties, leading the foodservice line set-up and/or breakdown
  • Prepares and plates quality dishes to order efficiently
  • Knowledgeable in ServSafe practices, assists in maintaining exceptional food safety
  • Maintains a clean workstation during the shift, washes dishes, and ensures the kitchen is clean, stocked, and ready for reopening at the end of the shift
  • Helps maintain system-wide inventory related to assigned facilities and assists with ordering process for food and related consumables, as needed
  • Assists with stocking, restocking, and organizing food and related consumables, maintaining a First In First Out (FIFO) rotation of stock
  • Ability/willingness to:
    • Stand and work for extended periods
    • Cross-train as Food & Beverage Service Staff and fill in as needed
    • Help in other areas as needed
  • Acts as a team member with other Parks and Recreation staff, embracing and supporting the vision and mission of the CPRST Board of Directors and the City of Cullman
  • Exhibits a high level of professionalism and ethics working amicably with the Park Board, the Executive Director, Administrators, Personnel, and Community
  • Exhibits proficiency in written and oral communication
  • Attends all meetings as requested by supervisors
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors

Schedule

Hours vary, which will likely include nights and weekends, with hours varying based on time of year, events, and projects.

Working Environment

  • The work area is well lighted, ventilated, and heated
  • Occasionally work is outdoors where there is a potential to be exposed to various weather conditions

Physical Demands

  • Work is performed both inside and outside and requires the physical and mental ability to operate a motor vehicle, commercial kitchen appliances, and computer
  • Work also requires working around heights, heavy lifting, and the ability to climb, stand, bend, and sit while performing various job duties
  • Must be able to routinely lift and carry fifty pounds of weight without assistance
