Responsibilities
- Aids in the development of age-appropriate curriculum.
- Participates in planning and implementing a curriculum that meets NAEYC criteria.
- Plans and maintains schedules and routines.
- Maintains a safe, stimulating physical environment.
- Coordinates with all staff to ensure the environment is safe, clean, healthy, and organized according to ADHS guidelines.
- Maintains communication with parents, children, and staff.
- Ensures attendance rosters and flash counts are maintained and submitted as required.
- Assists in ensuring that all staff is made aware of the needs of children who require special care.
- Communicates clearly and tactfully, both orally and in writing, with co-workers, parents, and other customers.
- Sets up and arranges classroom and playground equipment and materials.
- Provides appropriate guidance and discipline techniques as outlined by ADHS and NAEYC.
- Ensures that all staff is made aware of the needs of children who require special care including those with individual education plans (IEPs) and medical needs.
- Communicates clearly and tactfully, both orally and in writing, with co-workers, parents, and other customers.
- Sets up and arranges classroom and playground equipment and materials.

Requirements
- Completion of basic child development class or early childhood development class - Preferred
- High School Diploma or GED - Required
- 6 months experience working with children - Required
- 6 months experience working with children in a licensed childcare facility - Preferred
- Driver License - Fingerprint Clearance Card - State Current Arizona Dept. of Health Services Fingerprint Clearance Card Upon Hire - Required
- Current Child Care First Aid within 1 week of date of hire into position 7 Days - Required
- Food Service\Food Handlers Card - Food Handlers Card Food Handlers card required within 7 days of employment 7 Days - Required
- For those Assistant Teacher positions that will be required to drive HonorHealth vehicles, incumbent must have a clean driving record as defined by HonorHealth Network Driver Qualification Policy Q-359 (available upon request)
- Must Be at least 21 years of age
- Provide a current and valid Arizona driver's license
- Have a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) from the Department of Motor Vehicles obtained and reviewed by Human Resources
- Successfully complete the next available, quarterly conducted, in-house training HonorHealth Defensive Driving Course and provide a certificate of completion.
