About the role

The Residential Porter is responsible for maintaining cleanliness in the common areas of assigned sites. Duties include general maintenance such as pressure washing, window cleaning, trash collection, and routine cleaning tasks. The porter also supports event setup and cleanup as needed and responds to cleaning concerns as they arise. The role requires responsibility, attention to detail, and the ability to work professionally and courteously with property staff, residents, and visitors.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all common areas, including sidewalks, lobbies, restrooms, and public spaces, are kept clean and presentable.
  • Complete daily cleaning and maintenance tasks as assigned by the Senior Manager of Operations, Cleaning.
  • Perform pressure washing in areas assigned by management.
  • Report to the assigned location wearing the approved ParkX Porter uniform.
  • Arrive at the assigned location before the start of the work shift.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and cleaning standards.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous attitude with all site visitors.
  • Recognize, greet, and interact professionally with property staff and guests, following the corresponding protocols.
  • Support management teams with special cleaning or maintenance requests as needed.
  • Keep the cleaning room and storage areas tidy, clean, and free of debris and hazards at all times.
  • Complete all required documentation at the end of the shift and ensure a proper transfer of responsibilities to the next shift.
  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of events or public meetings when required.
  • Monitor inventory of cleaning supplies and ensure safe and proper use of chemicals.
  • Notify management of any situation requiring their attention.
  • Follow all cleaning schedules and checklists accurately.
  • Understand and comply with cleaning procedures and calendars.
  • Document and report any safety hazards, maintenance issues, or damage.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work environment following established standards and procedures.
  • Attend team meetings that impact cleaning operations.
  • Complete maintenance or cleaning tasks per company maintenance checklists.
  • Cover co-workers' shifts during their absences when necessary.
  • Promptly address and resolve cleaning concerns with first-class service, in accordance with the guidelines established by the ParkX Executive Management Team.
  • Maintain equipment in good condition through regular maintenance and preventive care.
  • Report any equipment damage to management.
  • Be available to work weekends and outside regular hours, especially during events or high-activity periods.
  • Understand and promote corporate goals, core values, and departmental responsibilities as described in the company organizational chart and Employee Handbook.
  • Understand and comply with ParkX policies on absences, time off, and punctuality.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license with no major infractions.
  • Flexibility to work outside regular hours and on weekends during events.
  • Outgoing personality with the ability to connect with a diverse group of people and build/maintain strong relationships.
  • Strong problem-solving, time management, and communication skills.
  • Must be highly reliable and trustworthy, and act with a high degree of integrity.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and walk, climb stairs, maintain balance, bend, kneel, crouch, stoop, stretch, twist, and/or reach.
  • Push, pull, or lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Continuous repetitive movements.
  • Work under variable temperature conditions (including extreme heat or cold), with variable noise levels, outdoors and indoors, around fumes and/or hazards, dust and/or mites, and exposure to chemicals and biological risks.

Virginia Compensation Range: $15 USD - $15 USD.
