About the Role
Drive a truck (less than 1½ tons) to transport materials, merchandise, equipment, or workers between various types of establishments within Government reservations and on public highways and roads in accordance with EM 385-1-1.
Responsibilities
- Operate pickup, utility, and stake body trucks under 1½ tons.
- Load or unload truck with or without helpers.
- Make minor mechanical repairs and keep truck in good working order.
- Carry materials and supplies, build simple objects and forms, and perform heavy manual labor.
- Use hand tools such as picks, shovels, tamps, wheelbarrows, chainsaws, rakes, and brooms.
- Clean equipment, buildings, recreation facilities, structures, and grounds.
- Maintain and repair chain link and barbed wire fencing.
- Ensure completed work orders are properly filled out and returned to work management.
- Support the project Safety Plan through personal involvement in all aspects of safety, including training and adherence to safety requirements.
- Operate all equipment in accordance with EM 385-1-1.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
This position is designated as Mission Critical, meaning the employee may be required to meet the Installation’s safety and security needs during lockdown conditions and may be part of an emergency management/response team.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid state driver license or commercial driver’s license (CDL).
- Minimum three (3) years related work experience, preferred.
- Ability to provide a favorable motor vehicle report and background check.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow directions and work independently using sound judgment.
- Ability to operate heavy trucks reliably with public safety in mind.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects weighing up to 80 pounds.
