About the role
The Light Show Maintenance worker performs a variety of manual labor tasks to assist with the installation, maintenance, and takedown of NOVA Parks’ holiday light shows.
Responsibilities
- Assist full-time staff with safe and efficient installation and takedown of displays and features.
- Test, troubleshoot, and repair displays during installation and operating season.
- Ensure displays and features are organized and in good condition during takedown.
- Work closely with the high tree contractor.
- Turn the light show on and off during the operating season.
- Make minor repairs and perform maintenance on the basic power grid as needed.
- Assist with public service needs as directed, including handling visitor inquiries and providing information.
- Clean and organize storage areas, dispose of debris, and perform other housekeeping duties.
- Assist with tent installation and takedown.
- Apply paint/stain on exterior and interior sites.
- Run errands to deliver or pick up materials.
- Perform manual labor and related tasks as required.
- Organize and maintain inventory of supplies.
- Operate man lifts and forklifts during installation and takedown.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and in-service training.
- Report unsafe conditions to the Park Maintenance Supervisor.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned by the Park Maintenance Supervisor or Supervisor on Duty.
Requirements
- Must be age 18 or over.
- High school diploma with a minimum of one year of experience in park maintenance work, or equivalent combination of education, training, or experience.
- Ability to operate small engine equipment safely.
- Ability to operate a variety of vehicles with standard transmissions.
- Ability to work at heights using ladders and lifts.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to make minor repairs on equipment.
- Knowledge of park maintenance procedures and equipment.
- Ability to communicate effectively and courteously with the public.
- Strength and dexterity to perform all required tasks, including lifting, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
- Ability to perform heavy manual labor in a variety of weather conditions.
- Availability to work a variable schedule, including early and late hours, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to understand and follow oral instructions.
- Possession of or ability to obtain a valid driver’s license; must maintain a safe driving record.
- Required to purchase and wear a standard uniform.
Pay
$16.50 per hour
