Responsibilities

  • Operate/maneuver equipment on the construction site safely and effectively.
  • Drive 12-yard dump truck to haul equipment and hook up and drive tractor/trailer and truck/trailer rigs to haul equipment and materials.
  • Check daily to ensure equipment functions properly and safely.
  • Coordinate with crew members in response to hand and/or audio signals.
  • Maintain fueling and check oil and fluid levels.
  • Accurately record all mileage to ensure proper computation; maintain a record of dispensed fuel and provide fuel accounting documentation.
  • Maintain accurate accounting of truck inventory.
  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure safe operation.
  • Demonstrate Yates Core Values and Principles
  • Follow Yates Code of Conduct
  • Responsible for refusing unsafe work and for carrying out all work by the established Yates Safety Procedures and Work Practices
  • Report all incidents, near hits, and hazards to management.
  • Required to wear and maintain personal PPE.
  • Advise fellow employees of hazardous situations.
  • Participate in workplace inspections.
  • Comply with statutory requirements, including duty of care.
  • Participate in required and assigned training.
  • Provide suggestions to improve Safety.
  • Present a mature approach to working safely.
  • Attend prestart and Safety meetings and contribute.

Qualifications

  • Must be 25 years or older with a clean MVR background check.
  • Valid CDL license requirement is dictated by the needs of the site.
  • Clean, maintain, and make basic repairs to equipment.
  • Ensure equipment is safely and securely stored when not in use.
  • Two (2) + years of heavy industrial-related light operator experience.
  • Successful completion of a DOT Physical.

Requirements

  • Operate by way of radio communications or hand signals, if applicable.
  • Responsible for maintaining safe operations as per Yates and manufacturers procedures/guidelines within the equipments capabilities.
  • Wearing, inspecting, and caring for required personal protective equipment.
  • Must be able to read and follow operator procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions and document, plan, and perform work activities independently
  • The degree of job responsibilities and requirements may vary depending on months of experience
  • Successful completion of required Safety training to include, but not limited to, Confined Space, LOTO, and Working at Heights

Physical Demands/Essential Job Functions

  • All weather conditions at varying temperatures
  • Work at varying elevations
  • Will work in windy and dusty environments
  • Moderate to high noise levels
  • The project site will contain light to heavy equipment vehicles, small to large equipment, materials, communication equipment, and tools
  • Ability to hear bells, whistles, and alarms
  • Required to wear safety-approved body harnesses when working at 4 or above
  • Required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, climbing, and lifting
  • Ability to talk and hear to communicate
  • Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools
  • Must be able to lift, carry, and move heavy objects up to 25 lbs.
  • Will use vision abilities to focus, see short and long distances, colors, depth perception, and peripheral vision
