Light Duty Truck Mechanic - Idaho Falls

About the role

Knife River is seeking an experienced Light Duty Vehicle Mechanic to join our Idaho Falls division. The position requires working independently and as part of a team, handling tasks in extreme weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform significant maintenance on all types of light duty vehicle repairs.
• Safely operate various tools and equipment including standard to specialty tools, torches, welders, hoists, forklifts, and other heavy equipment.
• Troubleshoot equipment maintenance issues, diagnose parts and components, and determine repair methods.
• Read and interpret technical manuals and schematics to anticipate necessary parts and supplies for orders.
• Maintain safety standards, complete shop forms, keep work areas tidy, and comply with regulations.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues and customers.
• Handle multiple projects, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail.
• Operate company vehicles for field service repairs.
• Provide your own basic hand tools, pneumatics, and some specialty tools.
• Work flexible shifts including nights, evenings, and weekends.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the shop manager.

Requirements

• Qualified driving record.
• Experience with light duty vehicle repair.
• Experience with Ford vehicle repair (preferred).
• Own your own tools.

• Self-motivated and capable of working independently or in a team setting.
• Willingness to handle multiple projects and maintain attention to detail.

Skills

• Safe operation of various tools and equipment.
• Technical troubleshooting skills.
• Effective communication skills.
