About the Role
The Wasatch Peaks Ranch Lift Operator is an essential member of the WPR team, reporting to the Lift Operations Manager/Supervisor/Foreman. The successful applicant will ensure the safe and friendly operation of lifts to provide efficient transportation for members, guests, and employees while creating a fantastic experience at WPR.
Responsibilities
- Create a fun, safe, and friendly environment as a Lift Operator while embracing the adventure and safe lifestyle at WPR.
- Follow all safe working practices, responsibilities, and cleaning/disinfecting procedures.
- Adhere to all ski/ride policies, including the Responsibility Code, designated trails, and skiing/riding on and off the clock.
- Follow and perform all company and departmental policies and procedures, including punctuality, attendance, dress, and grooming standards.
- Operate chairlifts and people-moving lifts safely and efficiently.
- Provide excellent customer service by anticipating the needs of members and guests.
- Perform all tasks safely and to completion, adapting to a rapidly changing environment and learning new skills as needed.
- Support all departments through cross-training to achieve common goals.
- Safely assist customers with loading and unloading chairlifts.
- Maintain a safe work area, including chairlift unloading and loading ramps, and keep the work area clean and organized.
- Perform snow removal in the pit area, clean chairs at the start of each shift, and maintain base areas and walkways as needed.
- Monitor lift operations throughout the day and notify appropriate personnel of any problems or unusual conditions.
- Complete all documentation for pre-operational checks and stop buttons before loading the public and throughout the day.
- Assist with any other tasks that may arise.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Proficient skier or snowboarder.
- Ability to see and identify dangerous situations, colors for coding, classifying, and emergency situations.
- Ability to hear and distinguish safety warnings (bells, whistles, horns, radio, etc.).
- Must be able to make quick decisions regarding safety.
- Use two-way radios and emergency contact options.
- Give and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Visually inspect all areas for safety and risk.
- Operate equipment for several hours in challenging weather conditions, including sub-zero temperatures and high winds (50+ mph) for up to 2-4 hours at a time.
- Stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, twist, turn, bend, kneel, and balance for extended periods.
- Lift up to 50 lbs frequently, 25 lbs occasionally, and 10 lbs constantly.
Qualifications
Experience levels and corresponding requirements:
- Level 1 (0-5 years’ experience):
- Guest service experience preferred.
- Must demonstrate basic competency in reading, writing, speaking, math, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to collaborate across functions and departments, work as part of a team, and lead teams in achieving goals.
- Level 2 (2+ years’ experience):
- Ability to assist with opening and closing the lift in conjunction with lift maintenance procedures.
- Guest service experience preferred.
- Must demonstrate basic competency in reading, writing, speaking, math, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to collaborate across functions and departments, work as part of a team, and lead teams in achieving goals.
- Level 3 (5+ years’ experience):
- Ability to assist with opening and closing the lift in conjunction with lift maintenance procedures.
- Radio communication experience and ability to communicate with other departments.
- Must be a proficient skier or snowboarder.
- Supervising of lift crew.
- Guest service experience preferred.
- Must demonstrate basic competency in reading, writing, speaking, math, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to collaborate across functions and departments, work as part of a team, and lead teams in achieving goals.
- Ability to supervise all operator employees daily and report all issues and needs to management.
