CEIS is seeking an experienced Lift Director to support a large-scale, technically complex life sciences construction project. This position is responsible for overseeing the safe, efficient planning, coordination, and execution of crane and heavy-lift operations across an active construction site. The Lift Director will provide leadership throughout the lifting process, from reviewing and approving lift plans to directing daily field operations, coordinating trade partners, managing rigging contractor activities, and integrating crane operations into short- and long-term construction schedules. The ideal candidate brings extensive hands-on crane and rigging experience, strong technical judgment, and the ability to coordinate multiple construction activities while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities Crane Operations and Lift Planning Review and approve critical, tandem, and complex lift plans, verifying rigging configurations, load charts, crane capacities, operating radii, ground-bearing conditions, and outrigger or mat requirements. Ensure lift plans comply with manufacturer limitations, applicable OSHA and ASME standards, engineering requirements, and project-specific safety procedures. Verify crane configurations, weather limitations, exclusion zones, and emergency stop procedures before lifting activities begin. Maintain accurate lift plan documentation, approval records, revisions, and required sign-offs. Identify lifting hazards and coordinate corrective actions before authorizing work. Construction Logistics and Coordination Lead weekly crane and lift coordination meetings with superintendents, safety personnel, engineering, trade partners, and rigging contractors. Coordinate crane activities with material deliveries, concrete placements, hoisting operations, road access, laydown areas, and surrounding construction activities. Identify and mitigate crane-to-crane and crane-to-structure interference, overlapping work areas, and other operational conflicts. Coordinate delivery windows, equipment staging, and access requirements to support safe and efficient lifting operations. Develop and communicate three-week lift look-ahead schedules and coordinate changes with affected stakeholders. Rigging Contractor and Field Leadership Direct daily crane and rigging activities involving operators, riggers, signalpersons, and lift supervisors. Coordinate crew assignments and verify required qualifications, certifications, and personnel coverage. Conduct pre-lift briefings, verify equipment readiness, and enforce established safety requirements. Monitor crane inspections, rigging equipment conditions, and field execution to ensure compliance with approved lift plans. Exercise stop-work authority when unsafe conditions arise and coordinate corrective actions. Support investigations of lifting-related incidents and near misses, ensuring appropriate corrective actions are implemented. Project Scheduling and Operational Planning Provide crane and lifting activity input for three-week look-ahead schedules and the overall project schedule. Forecast crane requirements throughout construction phases, including mobilization, equipment erection, relocation, and demobilization. Identify schedule constraints involving critical lifts, equipment availability, weather conditions, and site access. Coordinate with construction leadership to recommend sequencing adjustments that minimize operational conflicts and delays. Monitor crane productivity and communicate schedule impacts and resource requirements. Required Qualifications Minimum 10 years of experience in construction lifting operations, including at least 2 years directing crane and rigging activities on large or technically complex projects. Demonstrated experience reviewing critical, tandem, and tower crane lift plans. Working knowledge of OSHA 1926 Subpart CC, applicable ASME B30 standards, and ANSI/ASSP A10.31. OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety training. Strong understanding of crane capacities, load charts, rigging configurations, lift planning, and heavy-equipment operations. Experience coordinating crane operations across multiple trades and active construction work areas. Ability to lead contractor personnel and communicate effectively with field crews, project leadership, and safety teams. Preferred Qualifications Current NCCCO or equivalent crane, rigging, signalperson, or Lift Director credential. Familiarity with 3D lift planning software and construction scheduling tools such as Primavera P6. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience. First Aid/CPR certification. Previous experience supporting large-scale, complex construction projects.
