About the role
Lift As You Climb is a program that empowers AmeriCorps members to serve one year supporting students at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) as peer mentors.
Responsibilities
- Provide information and share experiences for high school students interested in attending college related to their college experience
- Peer mentoring for UMKC students broadly focused on fostering a sense of belonging and addressing potential barriers to persistence by helping mentees identify and advocate for needs and use existing UMKC resources.
- Deliver peer mentoring to help students reflect and process what they are learning from their courses to succeed in their adult lives and careers.
- Conduct thirty-minute check-in meetings every other week with assigned scholars.
- Assist with planning programming and cohort activities.
- Affiliate with planning community engagement and required AmeriCorps activities.
