About the role
The Community Services Direct Support Professional (CS-DSP) supports members within Waypoint to connect with their community. They help members explore their community, find ways to get involved, and build new relationships.
Responsibilities
- Model healthy relationships and effective communication
- Support independence and encourage self-determination
- Maintain a safe and supportive environment
- Represent Waypoint professionally in the community
- Facilitate connections to community resources
- Support members in exploring areas of interest and expressing their choices
- Implement individual goals and Support Plans
- Notify Team Leader of any safety concerns
- Exercise sound judgment to ensure the safety and welfare of members
Requirements
- Professional, collaborative, and positive demeanor
- Collaborative and collegial relationships with all staff
- Maintain required certifications for the Direct Support Professional position
- Attend and participate in required staff meetings and trainings
- Consistent and punctual employee work record
- Flexibility and willingness to assist in various settings
- Cultivate a safe and supportive relationship with members
- Understand and comply with relevant rules and policies
- Proficient in IT skills for time & attendance, documentation, and communication
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push, pull, lift up to 50 pounds, speak clearly, and read/write English
