About the Role

Encore Village is seeking a Full-Time Lifestyles Assistant to support activity programs and resident engagement in an assisted living community.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, create, prepare, facilitate, and execute activity programs and one-on-one visits as scheduled or needed.
  • Assist residents on escorted trips and with special events, including all holiday programs.
  • Maintain documentation in the EMR system per facility policy, including assessments, progress notes, care plans, attendance, and visit descriptions.
  • Communicate with supervisors, residents, and associates about activity-related concerns and needs.
  • Foster a resident-centered environment by collaborating with associates, families, residents, and volunteers.
  • Supervise and guide volunteers, providing instruction and feedback to the Life Enrichment Manager as needed.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to promote resident participation and engagement.
  • Contribute to department tasks, program suggestions, and monthly calendar creation.
  • Maintain educational compliance with yearly training requirements per IDPH regulation.
  • Assist with sanitizing departmental equipment, supplies, and office/programming areas.
  • Provide transport or guidance to residents and families to support participation in recreational activities.
  • Support Life Enrichment functions through clerical tasks, such as copying.
  • Encourage resident participation in leisure activities through motivation and provision of supplies.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Environmental and Physical Demands

  • Physical Activities: Frequently standing, walking, talking, hearing, bending, reaching, pushing, grasping, and using hands and arms. Occasionally sitting, squatting, twisting, climbing stairs/ladders, balancing, crouching, crawling, or kneeling.
  • Range of Motion: Frequently moving from shoulder and above, waist to shoulder, and waist and below.
  • Weight Lifting: Constantly lifting up to 10 lbs; occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Vision Requirements: Frequently utilizing peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Environmental Exposure: Occasionally exposed to biohazard materials, body fluids/blood, and animals. Required to wear protective clothing.

Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma preferred.
  • Experience: Experience in senior activities preferred, including music, crafts, activities, or religious programming.
  • Skills & Abilities:
    • Ability to work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, or occasionally hostile individuals.
    • Proficiency in computer use, typing, and Microsoft Word.
    • Willingness to work extended hours, different shifts, weekends, or holidays as needed.
    • Capable of maintaining regular attendance and meeting local health regulations.
    • Must pass post-offer pre-employment physical exam (if required), including drug screening, criminal background check, and reference inquiry.
    • Ability to perform responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation.
    • Maintains confidentiality and responds calmly to emergency situations.
    • Ability to lead large groups.
