The Bristal Assisted Living offers a career where you can make a meaningful difference in the lives of seniors. As a Lifestyle Coordinator, you’ll assist in presenting and coordinating recreational programs for assisted living residents, including those with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia in our dedicated Reflections Memory Care Neighborhood. You’ll help residents adjust to community living by encouraging them to pursue existing interests and develop new ones, plan safe and engaging trips (e.g., art galleries, theaters, music venues, sports events), and prepare/distribute monthly calendars, newsletters, and memos. You’ll also lead planned activities in the Director of Recreation’s absence and maintain knowledge of residents’ backgrounds, hobbies, and interests to foster engagement.
Responsibilities
- Assist in coordinating and presenting recreational programs for assisted living residents, including those with Alzheimer’s/dementia.
- Help residents adjust to community living by encouraging participation in hobbies and new activities.
- Plan and organize safe, engaging trips to destinations like art galleries, theaters, music venues, sports events, and cultural/religious programs.
- Prepare, print, and distribute monthly calendars, newsletters, and memos.
- Lead planned activities in the absence of the Director of Recreation.
- Maintain knowledge of resident backgrounds, hobbies, interests, and languages to encourage engagement.
- Supervise activities, special events, and excursions for residents.
Requirements
- One year’s prior experience working with a senior population (experience with Alzheimer’s/dementia a plus).
- At least 6 months of recreation activity experience (e.g., art therapy, music therapy) or event leadership, preferably in assisted living, long-term care, or a similar setting.
- Outgoing, warm, and genuinely caring personality.
- Able to create engaging programs that excite residents.
- Dependable and capable of supervising activities and safe excursions.
- Creative talents in areas like art, music, readings, or dance.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Strong listening, communication, and group leadership skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent (minimum).
