About the role

Join our Aquatics Team to ensure everyone can enjoy the pool in a safe and welcoming environment. Whether you’re a lifeguard, a swim instructor, or a little bit of both, you’ll help swimmers feel confident and gain experience in the water. Training is provided for those without lifeguard experience.

Responsibilities

• Monitor pool area to ensure the safety of all swimmers and visitors
• Enforce pool rules and regulations to prevent accidents and injuries
• Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, including performing rescues and administering first aid or CPR as needed
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pool area and surrounding facilities
• Conduct regular safety checks of equipment and pool conditions
• Provide excellent customer service by assisting members and guests with inquiries and ensuring a positive experience

Requirements

• Must be certified in PR/CPR, AED, O2, and First Aid (training provided by the Y if needed)
• Must be 16 years of age
• YMCA Lifeguard certification or certification by another nationally recognized organization
• Must possess a cooperative spirit to character development by promoting and demonstrating caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility
• Must have the ability to relate with pool patrons in a positive manner
• Must be professional, alert, courteous, and tactful
• Must be serious about job responsibilities and have an aptitude for thinking clearly in emergency situations
• Must have strong water skills and maintain top physical fitness

Pay

$11.50 per hour
