Lifeguard (PT)

Location: Utica, NY

Job Type: Part-Time, 12‑Month

Key Responsibilities

• Ensures the safety of swimmers by enforcing pool rules and regulations, preventing accidents, and responding promptly to emergency situations.
• Maintains a professional appearance and attitude at all times, providing a high standard of customer service.
• Communicates with other lifeguards, water safety instructors, and supervisors.
• Substitutes for other staff members as needed.

Qualifications

• Current Lifeguard and CPR/AED certifications at the time of application.
• Availability to work during the week (mornings and evenings) as well as weekends if necessary.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to engage positively with the public.
• Self‑motivated with the ability to work without constant supervision.
• Willingness to assist with swim lessons should the need arise.
• For those not certified or needing recertification, MVCC may offer certification at a reduced cost upon request.

Schedule

The hours for this position will depend on the applicant’s availability. Daytime, evening, and weekend shifts are available. Hours per week: 20–29.

Pay

Starting at $17.00 per hour; rate will depend on experience.
