Lifeguard - MORNING / DAY TIME SHIFTS

About the role

Maintains the health and safety of all patrons in the Recreation Center Natatorium.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and clean swimming pool environment.
• Perform necessary rescues on any person needing assistance in the pool.
• Light cleaning and maintenance of the pool, steam room, sauna, and locker room areas.
• Maintain personal fitness to perform the above functions.
• Perform light maintenance and cleaning on the pools and pool areas.

Minimum qualifications

• Availability to work one of the following shifts: 5:00 am – 11:00 am, 6:30 am – 12:00 pm, or 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm (no shifts after 5:00 pm).
• Current Lifeguard Training certification that includes lifeguarding, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, and first‑aid skills.
• Ability to complete all swimming skills required for the lifeguarding exam.
• Good interpersonal skills for communicating with the public and co‑workers.
• Knowledge of emergency action plans.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule.
• Self‑starter attitude – ability to identify and complete needed tasks.

Education

One year of high school completed.

Experience

• Previous lifeguarding experience preferred.
• Other water‑safety instructor certification preferred.

Work environment

Functions will be performed in an environment that may expose the employee to light chemical substances such as chlorine.

Physical requirements

• Ability to see and hear clearly.
• Ability to sit, stand, stoop, bend, and walk about.
• Audible voice for communication.
• Ability to perform a water rescue if necessary.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb.

Pay

Grade 3: $12.18 per hour – $20.12 per hour (Non‑Exempt, Part‑Time).

Schedule

Morning / Day shifts only: 5:00 am – 11:00 am, 6:30 am – 12:00 pm, or 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm.
