Role Overview

The primary responsibility of the Lifeguard is to ensure students' safety in and around the swimming pool. Key duties include supervising swimmers, spotting potential hazards, responding promptly to emergencies, and performing CPR or other lifesaving first aid when required.

  • Carry out other reasonable duties

All staff are responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the centre while upholding the highest standards of safety and care. Staff must be reliable role models with high personal standards, respect confidentiality and professional boundaries, work effectively as team players contributing to a positive environment, and fully embrace the Team Orange spirit.

Job Specific Personal Specification & Qualifications

  • Possess native or near-native competence in written and spoken English (minimum CEFR C1 level)
  • Hold a valid UK National Pool Lifeguarding Qualification (NPTLS or equivalent)
  • Experience working with children or young people, preferably in residential or summer school settings
  • Motivate and engage students of varying ages and abilities through strong leadership and teamworking skills
  • Show good communication and interpersonal abilities with students and colleagues
  • Have an enthusiastic, approachable, friendly, and reliable attitude
  • Adapt flexibly to changing schedules and duties
  • Adequately adhere to safeguarding and child protection policies
  • Maintain professionalism in appearance, conduct, and language
  • Commit to being fully present during activities by limiting personal phone usage to maximise interactions
  • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity for inclusive work with diverse groups
  • Take initiative beyond duties
  • Embrace feedback for continuous professional development

All staff must be over the age of 18 and must have completed secondary school / college at least one year prior to joining us. This safeguarding measure is in place to protect both our students and our staff. Staff must be medically fit for their role; where necessary, reasonable adjustments will be discussed and made.
