Life Skills Instructor - Weekend Warriors and Floaters needed ASAP

About the role

New Horizons is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving individuals with special needs. We enhance their quality of life and promote their independence and inclusion in the community.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement individualized training programs based on each individual's goals and needs
• Teach essential life skills such as personal hygiene, home maintenance, meal planning and preparation, money management, and community navigation
• Assist individuals in developing social skills, communication skills, and problem-solving abilities
• Provide support and encouragement to foster independence and self-confidence
• Track progress and document outcomes for each individual

Requirements

• Bilingual - English / Spanish is a plus
• A perfect part-time or second job!
• Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities is a plus but not necessary. We are willing to train the right candidate
• Flexible availability. 25 - 40 hours a week (may include weekends)

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience working with individuals with special needs or developmental disabilities preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to create engaging and interactive lesson plans
• Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude
• Ability to adapt and modify instruction to accommodate individual needs and abilities
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Authorized to work in the United States
