About the role
Provides positive support and be an advocate for the warrior.
Assists with identifying choices and making informed decisions that involve the warrior's activities and life.
Maintains structure and support in household management such as maintaining cleanliness of the home environment and establishing a safe, healthy, and efficient routine.
Aids in promoting socialization and establishing relationships with peers by participating in recreation and community activities.
Supports warriors in improving community living and integration skills in various settings such as shopping, church attendance, sporting events, club participation, classroom support, volunteer/employment support.
Trains or assists with mobility in the home environment, using adaptive aids, and accessing public transportation.
Assists with developing effective and appropriate communication and social skills.
Operates the program within organizational guidelines, policies, professional and ethical standards.
Maintains confidentiality of information relating to individuals and their families in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act/company policies.
Treats clients, families, co-workers, and outside parties with respect and dignity, honoring all values and all written and reasonably implied ethical practices of the organization.
Helps warriors with reintegrating and reconnecting with their communities in order to encourage a healthy level of independence.
Identifies barriers, triggers, or changes in functional status in order to develop proactive interventions that promote continued independence.
Edits warriors on how to develop necessary problem-solving skills and strategies.
Accompanies warriors to locations and appointments in the community, educating them in learning how to assess and utilize their community resources and services.
Serves as a role/mentor for warriors and maintains good communication/relationships with the warrior, their families, and referral sources.
Completes daily progress notes and other necessary documentation in compliance with organization policies and provides to own agency and to NCC Case Manager.
Maintains monitoring and appropriately utilizing billable hours with warriors.
Behaves professionally at all times.
Communicates regularly with organization personnel regarding warrior issues/concerns.
Participates in team meetings as requested.
Performs other duties as assigned to meet the program goals or as requested by National Certified Counselor and own agency.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in related field and experience listed below OR
- Associates Degree with one year experience in related field and experience listed below OR
- High School Degree/Equivalency with three years experience in related field and experience listed below
- Demonstrates knowledge of brain injury, accessibility to community resources and experience with appropriate training skills, assessment and evaluation skills
- Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS) preferred
- Must have a valid driver's license and the vehicle is compliant with local Department of Motor Vehicle standards such as current registration, inspection, and insurance

Salary Range USD $20.00 / Hour
12 to 15 hours a week
