About the role
The **Life Skills Managers** will provide direct supervision of youth at Urban Peak Denver shelter and/or housing programs. They will assist youth in increasing self-efficacy and reducing risky behavior, ensuring client safety, and delivering appropriate and effective program services.
Responsibilities
- Supervise youth in accordance with facility rules and regulations
- Crisis intervention
- Facilitate group facilitation
- Promote a therapeutic environment
- Accurate, timely, and consistent data collection and data entry
- Maintain a safe and positive environment
- Provide milieu supervision and work to ensure the safety of the youth and their environment
- Assure that youth maintain cleanliness of the shelter environment
- Support youth who come into the shelter
- Assess the needs of clients
- Forward data to intake supervisor for additional follow-up
- Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation support
- Facilitate group activities and discussions
Requirements
- Two (2) years of college; OR a high school diploma or equivalent AND one (1) year of experience in the human services field
- Lived experience reflective of the youth we serve is encouraged but not required
- Able to connect and work effectively with a diverse, resistant street youth population
- Exercise discretion and independent judgment, set clear and appropriate boundaries with youth
- Knowledge and understanding issues of the homeless adolescent population, mental health issues, and substance abuse among high-risk young adults
- Problem solving skills (multi-tasking, assessment, organization and prioritization)
- Team oriented and able to coordinate with various departments and staff
- Understanding of the provision of and commitment to trauma informed care
- Must be QMAP certified or eligible for QMAP certification
- Ability to use second language in written and verbal communication desired (Spanish, Vietnamese, ASL)
- Must be computer proficient and possess experience of Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
- Must be insurable as a driver on Urban Peak's auto liability policy in order to conduct business on behalf of the agency or transport youth using an Urban Peak vehicle and an approved personal vehicle
- Ability to pass both federal and state background checks
- Ability to pass pre-employment TB Screening
- Ability to pass pre-employment physical examination
- Provide proof of education (HS Diploma OR Official Transcripts)

$24.26 per hour
Schedule
Wednesday 8AM to 6PM and Thursday through Saturday 11AM to 9PM
