Life Sciences Consultant - Oncology
About the role
We are looking for an Oncology-specialist (ideally with lung cancer expertise) Consultant to join our growing team. Specifically, we are looking for someone with prior management consulting experience, particularly in our heritage discipline, competitive intelligence.
Responsibilities
- Developing key project deliverables, including discrete pieces of qualitative, quantitative, financial, and pharmaco-economic research, analysis, and synthesis.
- Using a range of strategic frameworks to conceptualize complex data and translate it into compelling, succinct, and actionable insights.
- Creating, managing, and adhering to project plans and budgets, including key milestones, delivery timelines, and review sessions, while monitoring capacity, risks, and potential issues.
- Defining team roles and successfully delivering against assigned responsibilities (for example, Project Manager, Financial/Quantitative Analyst, or Communications Champion).
- Managing small project teams in the execution of client engagements, addressing performance concerns proactively and effectively.
- Ensuring the highest quality of deliverables through quality assurance processes such as the four-eye principle, checklists, and formal quality control reviews.
- Conducting project reviews and providing and seeking formal feedback at the conclusion of each project (or at contract renewal for monitoring projects) to capture key learnings and continuous improvement opportunities.
- Interacting with client teams to communicate project progress, discuss questions, hypotheses, and conclusions, address concerns, and proactively flag issues as needed.
- Ensuring a high level of client satisfaction throughout the duration of each project.
Requirements
Familiarity with, and in-market experience in, the U.S. pharmaceutical market through recent employment with a U.S.-based consulting firm.
Advanced degree in Medicine or Life Sciences from a leading institution (Ph.D. preferred), with deep oncology expertise, particularly in lung cancer.
Consultant level: 3+ years of relevant consulting experience.
Demonstrated track record of professional success, including progressive advancement and promotion.
Experience successfully managing projects or workstreams within larger projects.
Proven leadership skills, including functional, team, and client leadership.
Experience in pharmaceutical competitive intelligence.
Strong knowledge of, and hands-on experience in, pharmaceutical competitive intelligence, including issue monitoring, conference coverage, primary competitive intelligence research, competitive intelligence deep dives, workshops, scenario planning, and insight generation.
Experience working on Commercial Strategy and/or Market Access projects.
Strong understanding of the life sciences and pharmaceutical industries, including recent trends, developments, and current challenges.
Able to manage difficult conversations effectively and professionally.
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships internally and externally at all levels.
Qualifications
Publications and/or conference presentations are desirable.
Able and willing to travel.
