This opportunity is available at any location in the United States. Ideally, selected candidates will be near a Jacobs U.S.-based office, but we intend to hire the best candidates. We're looking for a Life Safety Systems/Fire Alarm Subject Matter Expert (SME) who is excited about working on projects that enable the heart of our clients’ business, particularly data center facilities projects. Our Life Safety Systems/Fire Alarm SMEs work on various projects assigned by a Department Manager and play a role in the entire design process. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative work environment and enjoys working closely with clients in the Data Center market.

Responsibilities

  • Quality control of Fire Alarm and Life Safety Systems (LSS) drawings
  • Provide markups on lead engineer submittals to align with design intent and client specifications
  • Offer design guidance and explain best practices based on real-world experience
  • Mentor junior staff
  • Engage in client interaction and justify design intent
  • Provide technical design leadership for systems in data center buildings, including fire alarm and detection systems, smoke control systems, fire protection systems, and other life safety or low-voltage systems
  • Ensure projects are completed on time while working on several concurrent projects

Requirements

  • NICET Fire Alarm Systems (FAS) Level III or IV
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • Knowledge and extensive design experience with Fire Alarm Systems and related manufacturers’ equipment, including VESDA systems
  • Proficient in IBC, IFC, NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, and NFPA 72 Fire Alarm and Signaling Code
  • Knowledge of NFPA 75, NFPA 76, NFPA 2001, and NFPA 13 codes
  • Knowledge and application of NFPA 70 (NEC) and electrical design requirements
  • Experience with general design and construction specifications
  • Experience mentoring junior staff
  • Extensive design experience in data centers

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineering (PE) license
  • Experience leading projects and managing resources
  • Experience estimating and scheduling mid-to-large-scale projects

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $120,000.00 to $150,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Schedule

Hybrid working policy allowing employees to split their work week between Jacobs offices/projects and remote locations.
