Life Safety Code Surveyor
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) is seeking a Life Safety Code (LSC) Surveyor to conduct surveys in various healthcare facilities.
About the Role
KDHE is a comprehensive agency comprising Public Health, Environment, and Health Care Finance. The LSC Surveyor will assess compliance with federal requirements and conduct follow-up/revisits, complaints, or special investigations.
Responsibilities
- Conduct CMS Life Safety Code & Health Care Facilities Code (LSC/HCFC) surveys in acute and continuing care facilities.
- Conduct CMS Emergency Preparedness (EPP) surveys as needed.
- Evaluate compliance with State of Kansas and CMS policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Conduct plan reviews for healthcare facility projects.
- Complete survey documentation and submit reports on time.
- Attend and participate in job-related meetings and training programs.
- Testify at legal hearings and courts of law as required.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED.
- 4 years of experience with fire inspections and emergency preparedness.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree preferred.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Proofreading, editing, and attention to detail.
- Experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
- Knowledge of NFPA standards, CMS regulations, and the International Building Code.
- Experience with Facility Guidelines Institute regulations for healthcare facilities.
- Strong working knowledge of the Life Safety Code survey.

Compensation
Hourly Pay Range: $30.00-$34.42. Salary varies based on education, experience, or qualifications.
