The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) is seeking a Life Safety Code (LSC) Surveyor to conduct surveys in various healthcare facilities.

About the Role

KDHE is a comprehensive agency comprising Public Health, Environment, and Health Care Finance. The LSC Surveyor will assess compliance with federal requirements and conduct follow-up/revisits, complaints, or special investigations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct CMS Life Safety Code & Health Care Facilities Code (LSC/HCFC) surveys in acute and continuing care facilities.
  • Conduct CMS Emergency Preparedness (EPP) surveys as needed.
  • Evaluate compliance with State of Kansas and CMS policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Conduct plan reviews for healthcare facility projects.
  • Complete survey documentation and submit reports on time.
  • Attend and participate in job-related meetings and training programs.
  • Testify at legal hearings and courts of law as required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • 4 years of experience with fire inspections and emergency preparedness.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree preferred.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Proofreading, editing, and attention to detail.
  • Experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Knowledge of NFPA standards, CMS regulations, and the International Building Code.
  • Experience with Facility Guidelines Institute regulations for healthcare facilities.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Life Safety Code survey.

Compensation

Hourly Pay Range: $30.00-$34.42. Salary varies based on education, experience, or qualifications.
