About the Role

The Life Enrichment Director is responsible for creating a vibrant and active community life for senior living residents. By spending time with residents and learning their personal preferences, talents, and physical and emotional needs, you will develop a daily and weekly schedule of activities tailored to engage residents and meet their individual needs. This role involves planning larger community events, encouraging resident participation, and fostering a community-based lifestyle that prioritizes connection and relationships. As a Life Enrichment Director, you become the heart of the community, transforming a senior living facility into a true home filled with joyful experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Put customer service first by ensuring residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere.
  • Ensure recreation services comply with Recover-Care policies, procedures, and federal/state regulations.
  • Serve as a collaborative member of the center management team to improve clinical, customer, staff, and business excellence.
  • Complete comprehensive resident assessments and contribute to the development of interdisciplinary care plans.
  • Plan individual and group programs based on resident needs, preferences, interests, and abilities, aligning with treatment goals.
  • Encourage resident involvement in recreation services planning and communicate program schedules.
  • Ensure meaningful recreation services are implemented for all residents while adhering to safety and infection control standards.
  • Document resident responses, involvement, and progress to improve future planning and program evaluation.
  • Provide information and resources to promote successful engagement.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of recreation services to enhance quality of life, meet program goals, and assess customer feedback.
  • Report findings and recommendations to the Center Quality Improvement Committee.
  • Identify and assign special projects to enhance recreation services.
  • Supervise staff and volunteers to ensure quality recreation services.
  • Develop positive relationships with residents' families by orienting them to recreation services, encouraging participation, and soliciting feedback.
  • Build relationships with the community by utilizing local resources and encouraging organizations to include residents in events.
  • Provide ongoing communication to families, community organizations, and public officials.
  • Assess, determine, and order necessary resources, equipment, and supplies while monitoring the department budget.
  • Establish and maintain an effective volunteer program through recruiting, training, supervising, and recognizing volunteers.
  • Stay updated on federal, state, and local requirements for recreation programming.
  • Act as a resource for other recreation professionals and community organizations.
  • Ensure confidentiality of all protected information and uphold resident rights.
  • Utilize technology to support departmental functions, including communication, planning, programming, documentation, and evaluation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Programming & Calendars: Design a monthly activity calendar featuring fitness classes, arts and crafts, live music, games, group outings, and more.
  • Resident Assessments: Interview new residents to document their life histories, hobbies, and capabilities to personalize activities.
  • Budgeting & Operations: Manage the department's budget, maintain event supplies, and ensure compliance with state regulations.
  • Community Building: Facilitate social interactions among residents to help them build friendships and feel at home.
  • Marketing: Assist with marketing events and functions both inside and outside the facility.

Requirements

  • Hold a CNA Certificate.
  • Have a clean driving record.
  • Experience planning activities for groups of people.
  • Experience in leadership roles.
  • A passion for caring for seniors.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
