Lied Center Student Marketing Assistant

Assist the full-time marketing staff in processing, posting, and distributing data, information, and materials, as well as implementing promotional initiatives for performances and events in the Lied Series (the Center’s professional touring artist series) and other events as requested.

Responsibilities

  • Help create marketing emails using the Lied Center’s email marketing platform (25%)
  • Compile zip-code, ticket-revenue, and other data for analysis, including gathering information from the Lied Center's ticketing system (20%)
  • Assist with gathering post-performance survey data (20%)
  • Maintain and process promotional mailing lists, including email and U.S. mail (10%)
  • Write and edit season materials, such as performance programs, news releases, and website content (5%)
  • Distribute promotional materials on KU's campus and in the Lawrence area (5%)
  • Support event marketing campaigns, media relations, and special promotions (5%)
  • Perform word processing and digital filing (5%)
  • Other duties as requested that impact Lied Center marketing and performance initiatives (5%)

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at the University of Kansas
  • Previous experience utilizing writing, editing, analytical, and communication skills
  • Background in Business Marketing, Journalism, English, Theatre, or a related field
  • Work experience with typing/computer skills using PC platforms (Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Work experience utilizing organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Available to work 8–10 hours per week, Monday–Friday, with a set schedule

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior office experience
  • Background in the performing arts
  • Sophomore level status or above
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and responsible

Enrollment Conditions

During the semester, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods, the student must meet one of the following:

  • Enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester
  • Pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours
  • Enrolled in summer session
  • Admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester

Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. Exceptions for GRA/GTA/GA appointments do not apply.

Employment Conditions

  • Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved
  • This is an hourly/non-exempt position
  • A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently

Pay

$11.00 per hour
