Job Description

About the role

The Licensing Specialist position serves as the primary liaison for all insurance and security licensing actions that occur after an individual is fully registered and licensed with First Command. The team supports over 900 licensed individuals including First Command Financial Advisors and Planners, Licensed Associates (LAs), Associate Financial Advisors (AFAs), all licensed field support, and all licensed Home Office employees.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain non-resident state licenses and securities registrations upon request.
  • Monitor and notify advisors of upcoming CE requirements for insurance and securities.
  • Maintain records, compile information, and submit necessary forms to keep advisors licensed and registered.
  • Ensure timely submission of materials to state agencies to obtain licenses promptly and efficiently.
  • Support the onboarding of all field staff hired by the field.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Administrative skills/experience required.
  • Two years of customer service experience required.
  • Experience in one of the following areas required: insurance carrier or insurance product experience.
  • Knowledge of state licensing requirements and processing.
  • Knowledge of FINRA and RegEd licensing system.
  • Life & Health insurance license preferred.

  • Proven experience in a professional and service-oriented environment.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to use independent judgment and be entrusted with confidential information.
  • Possess a working knowledge of First Command’s hierarchy, products, services, strategies, and operations.
  • Solve problems, recognize potential issues, and make decisions as quickly as possible while obtaining and maintaining all required regulatory standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and within deadlines.
  • Ability to work well with others, both in the home office and with our Registered Representatives.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Collaborative problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and AS400.
