Licensed Vocational Nurse - MLK BHC Residential

Responsibilities

• Participate in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the nursing care plan.
• Monitor client care and treatment.
• Assess and report on client behavioral changes.
• Take and record accurate vital signs.
• Observe universal precautions, including correct handling of bloodborne pathogens, storage of lab specimens, and disposal of infectious waste.
• Maintain a safe environment for clients.
• Interact with clients to support their participation in the program.
• Absorb and orient new clients, facilitate admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Provide medication management, including updating physicians, filling prescriptions, and auditing the medication room.
• Document client treatment progress, incident reports, and medical follow-ups.
• Identify, report, and assist with the management of emergencies, and submit incident reports to the Program Director.
• Adhere to professional standards.
• Perform clerical support as assigned.
• Attend and actively participate in meetings and supervision.
• Ensure compliance with licensing requirements.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid license with California Board of Vocational Nursing.
• Valid BLS Certification.
• Valid California Driver’s License and access to registered and insured transportation.
• Experience working with dual diagnosis populations.
• Nursing experience in community mental health, behavioral health, or recovery treatment centers preferred.
• Must complete background check and livescan clearance.
