Licensed Vocational Nurse II

Qualifications

• Must have graduated from an LVN program and have at least two (2) years of experience in an ambulatory care facility, with patient education expertise preferred, and have worked in one or more of the following areas: a) Family planning, Title X program b) Prenatal or Perinatal CPSP c) Adult care, and/or chronic diseases (Diabetes, Asthma, Hypertension)
• Experience must have been as a Licensed Vocational within a United States Licensing Jurisdiction
• Must be a high school graduate or have a GED equivalency
• Satisfactory completion of a state-approved program in vocational nursing, plus current license to practice in the State of California
• Must maintain a current Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation certification, in compliance with corporate CPR Policy
• Displays qualities of dependability and reliability, is willing to accept a variety of tasks, and can comprehend quickly and follow instructions accurately
• Be able to communicate tactfully and empathetically, with cultural sensitivity, with staff, patients, and family members
• Must possess excellent interpersonal skills
• Must be willing and able to work a varied and flexible schedule to accommodate the needs of NEVHC and its patients
• Demonstrate through written and oral testing the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, and know the principles of growth and development over the life span
• Fluency in English (speaks, reads and writes)
• Fluency in Spanish (speaks, interpret, reads, and writes)
• Able to maintain absolute confidentiality about health care and other patient information
• Able to utilize electronic medical records effectively to intake and document patient information and schedule appointments
• If the position is located at a School Base Clinic, the employee must be willing to submit fingerprints in a manner authorized by the California Department of Justice, with no adverse findings
• Current California driver’s license, appropriate insurance coverage, and a driving record acceptable to the NEVHC’s insurance carrier (if required to drive on the job)

Lead Duties

• Provides advanced nursing care while leading and mentoring clinical staff
• Oversees patient care coordination, delegates tasks based on scope of practice, supports staff development through training and mentorship, and collaborates on quality improvement and audit readiness
• Serves as a clinical resource and ensures adherence to policies and procedures

Reports to

• Direct & Administrative: Registered Nurse Supervisor, Program Manager, Clinic Administrator or designee
• Technical/Clinical: Licensed Independent Practitioner in consultation with the Director of Nursing Services or designee
