About the role
Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, Licensed Vocational Nurses participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care. They collaborate with other professional disciplines to ensure effective patient care delivery and achievement of desired patient outcomes. Licensed Vocational Nurses effectively interact with patients and significant others, while maintaining the standard of professional nursing.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients with a predictable outcome based on the application of scientific nursing principles.
- Collaborate with other professional disciplines to ensure effective patient care delivery and achievement of desired patient outcomes.
- Participate in committee activities, surveys, and improvement initiatives.
- Practice within the defined scope of practice as outlined by the Texas Nurse Practice Act.
- Provide care for patients of all ages in the Emergency Department (ED).
- Function as a secondary nurse or recorder in the care of higher acuity patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
Requirements
- Minimum Education: Graduate of Approved LVN Program
- Minimum Work Experience: No previous experience required
- Licenses/Certifications: Licensed Vocational Nurse, CPR-BCLS
