This position is located at California Institution for Men (CIM) in Chino, San Bernardino County.

About the Role

Under the supervision of the Supervising Registered Nurse (SRN) II/III, Correctional Facility (CF), and the clinical guidance of the Registered Nurse (RN), CF, the Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) provides a basic and technical level of general nursing care to patients in correctional health care settings. The LVN ensures the delivery of appropriate and timely health care to patients in collaboration with the health care team, pursuant to the LVN scope of practice.

Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) requires each full-time employee in Bargaining Unit 20, and related Excluded, Exempt, and Statutory Exempt employees, to have their base salary reduced by 3% and receive 5 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Part-time and permanent intermittent employees are subject to the same conditions on a prorated basis.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical patient care under valid authorization by a provider’s order and the delegation and clinical direction of the RN, CF.
  • Support the care team for daily health care operations.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and other members of the health care team.
  • Address the ongoing needs of patients in collaboration with physicians and other health care providers.
  • Promote the efficient, appropriate, and cost-effective use of health care resources.
