Licensed Veterinary Technician
Del Norte Animal Clinic is seeking an experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our team and support both outpatient care and procedural services, including surgery and dentistry. We value credentialed technicians for the clinical knowledge, judgment, and communication skills they bring across all areas of the hospital, helping elevate the quality of medicine, client experience, and patient care.
About the role
In this position, you will play a key role in both outpatient and procedural workflows, contributing to a consistent, high standard of care throughout the patient visit.
Responsibilities
- Supporting efficient exam room, outpatient, surgical, and dental workflows
- Performing anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery
- Performing dental procedures, including prophylaxis and radiography
- Maintaining accurate, detailed medical records and treatment documentation
- Reviewing treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately
- Identifying patient concerns and supporting efficient case management across the hospital
- Building strong client relationships through education, communication, and attentive service
Requirements
- 1+ year of veterinary technician experience
- Proficiency in the following skills:
- Surgical assistance and aseptic technique
- Medication administration and accurate drug calculations
- Laboratory sample collection and in-house diagnostic testing
- Safe, low-stress patient handling and restraint techniques
- Client education and communication
- Ability to prioritize tasks and multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Strong critical thinking and attention to detail
- Effective teamwork and professional communication skills
- Commitment to high-quality patient care and continuous learning
Active and recent graduates pending VTNE testing and licensure, or out-of-state license-holders who are eligible to transfer a license, are also encouraged to apply.
About the clinic
Del Norte Animal Clinic is an AAHA-accredited, 4-doctor small-animal practice caring for dogs and cats. The hospital offers digital X-ray, digital dental radiography, and a stand-alone isolation ward, supporting both routine and medical cases in a dedicated clinical environment. The practice is an opportunity to work with an established veterinary team focused on compassionate, personalized care while building skills in general practice, diagnostics, and surgery.
Location
Located in Albuquerque beneath the Sandia Mountains, the area offers a mix of Southwestern culture, outdoor recreation, local dining, arts, and easy access to historic Old Town and the city's many amenities.
Pay
$19 - $25 per hour
Schedule
This is a flexible, full-time, or part-time position, with 10-hour shifts and availability needed Monday-Saturday.
