Licensed Veterinary Technician

Northbrook Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) to join our team and support both outpatient care and procedural services, including surgery and dentistry.

We are seeking a versatile, client-focused technician who thrives in a dynamic general practice environment — balancing exam room care, client communication, and hands-on procedural support. We value credentialed technicians for the clinical knowledge, judgment, and communication skills they bring across all areas of the hospital, helping elevate the quality of medicine, client experience, and patient care. In this position, you will play a key role in both outpatient and procedural workflows, contributing to a consistent, high standard of care throughout the patient visit.

Responsibilities

• Support efficient exam room, outpatient, surgical, and dental workflows
• Perform anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery
• Assist in surgery
• Perform dental procedures, including prophylaxis and radiography
• Maintain accurate, detailed medical records and treatment documentation
• Review treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately
• Identify patient concerns and support efficient case management across the hospital
• Build strong client relationships through education, communication, and attentive service

Requirements

• 3+ years of veterinary experience in a clinical setting
• Current Veterinary Technician License in the state of Minnesota
• Proficiency in the following skills:
  • Patient assessment, nursing care, and monitoring
  • Anesthetic induction, monitoring, and recovery
  • Surgical assistance and aseptic technique
  • Dental prophylaxis and dental radiography
  • Venipuncture and intravenous catheter placement
  • Radiology positioning and safety protocols
  • Medication administration and accurate drug calculations
  • Laboratory sample collection and in-house diagnostic testing
  • Accurate medical record documentation
  • Safe, low-stress patient handling and restraint techniques
  • Client education and communication
  • Strong critical thinking and attention to detail
  • Commitment to high-quality patient care and continuous learning

Recent graduates pending VTNE testing and licensure, or out-of-state license-holders who are eligible to transfer a license, are also encouraged to apply.

Pay

$25–$27 per hour

Schedule

Full-time or part-time, Monday–Friday with 4/10s and 1 rotating Saturday shift per month.
