Licensed Veterinary Technician

About the Role

ROC Pet Rehab, part of Thrive Pet Healthcare, is seeking a full-time Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our team in Rochester, NY. This role supports veterinarians to ensure quality care, advocate for pets, and educate clients. The position requires working 30-40 hours per week, including a combination of day, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.

Responsibilities

• Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
• Assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
• Communicate and educate clients on treatments, therapies, and Thrive Membership options.
• Monitor and assess patient status.
• Perform treatments and therapies on pets, including manual therapy, laser treatments, and underwater treadmill.
• Provide guidance to clients on pet health concerns, medications, and additional treatments.
• Maintain relevant, comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems.

Requirements

• Veterinary technician licensure required.
• 1-2 years of clinical experience.
• Professional yet upbeat demeanor, promoting a positive attitude among coworkers.
• An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program preferred; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, squat, reach, stand, and walk throughout the day.

Pay

Compensation is negotiable based on credentials and experience, with a starting rate ranging from $20-25/hour. The actual rate offered will consider skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
