Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT)

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and monitor patients with mental health or developmental needs
• Support hygiene, feeding, and daily living tasks while tracking patient progress
• Respond to behavioral emergencies using trained techniques and first aid
• Perform nursing-delegated tasks such as vital signs and specimen collection
• Ensure safety and infection control through regular rounds and standard precautions

Requirements

• High school diploma and specialized training for licensing/certification(s)
• Experience facilitating groups with Mental Health patients
• One year of experience; preferably within a correctional/detention facility
• Current unrestricted Psychiatric Technician license in state of practice
• Current lifesaving BLS certification through AHAC
• Current lifesaving ACLS certification through AHA

Qualifications

• Specialized training for licensing/certification(s)
• Experience facilitating groups with Mental Health patients
• One year of experience; preferably within a correctional/detention facility

Strong communication skills, ability to handle crisis situations, and a compassionate demeanor are essential.
