Licensed Professional Counselor
About the role
The School-Based Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) at David Raines Community Health Centers provides on-campus mental health services, including individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, and risk assessments for students.
Responsibilities
- Provide evidence-based individual and group therapy addressing issues such as anxiety, depression, behavior issues and trauma.
- Act as a first responder for mental health crisis, conducting suicide risk assessments and safety planning.
- Collaborate with school staff, teachers, families and external providers to support student needs.
- Conduct diagnostic assessments and develop treatment plans to improve mental health and academic outcomes.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to promote a holistic approach to healthcare.
- Collaborate with school personnel and community services to provide continuity of care.
- Provide mental health education for students, families, teachers, professional peers, and the community.
- Perform case management duties and maintain documentation that meets standards for health system, Office of Public Health, Board of Social Work, and other supervising entities.
- Contribute to performance improvement initiatives (development, data collection, LaPERT, etc.).
- Identify opportunities for improvement and change.
- Affords flexibility with scheduling and assists with daily SBHC operations as needed.
- Assists with planning and implementation of SBHC activities, educational activities, community outreach etc.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology or Social Work.
- 2 – 5 years’ experience, preferably working with children and/or adolescents.
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills and ability to work in challenging and variable conditions.
- Experience with electronic health records is preferable, preferably NextGen or similar EHS.
- Excellent conflict resolution and crisis management skills.
- Licensure and Certifications: Active LPC licensure in the State of Louisiana, BLS (American Heart Association).

Pay
Full-time (40) hours per week/ non-exempt position during the SBHC calendar school year as established and approved by the governing school board.
Schedule
Work schedules are generally Monday thru Friday, based on clinical operations and during the approved SBHC calendar year (August - May).
