About the Role

The Private Client Banker (PCB) is part of the Key Private Client Program and focuses on the entire client relationship with a plan-based approach to financial advice. As a PCB, you will deliver and refer appropriate financial solutions to KeyBank's client base with up to $2M in investable assets. The PCB helps new and existing clients achieve confidence in their financial wellness by assessing their financial needs, gathering and documenting client data, and offering appropriate products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Embody a strong client experience culture, being present with every client and teammate.
  • Listen for clues for financial wellness opportunities during client conversations and provide effective and customized financial wellness recommendations.
  • Deliver client solutions through referring investment and insurance products.
  • Consistently attain individual activity, behavior, and outcome goals and expectations.
  • Build a client referral pipeline via identification and development of internal and external centers of influence.
  • Employ a disciplined approach to prospecting; document calling efforts.
  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of private client products and services, as well as competitive products and services.
  • Open personal and business accounts (consumer checking, small business, various deposit products, home equity, unsecured lending, certificates of deposit, etc.).
  • Develop strong partnerships with branch teammates and line of business partners through in-person meetings, focusing on client acquisition and deepening relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with operational, risk, security, and audit procedures and policies, including appropriate documentation of client interactions.
  • Support branch operations, including assisting with client transactions on the Teller line as needed.
  • Participate in and occasionally facilitate in-person morning huddles and end-of-day debriefs.
  • Work on Saturdays as directed by management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience (required). Bachelor's Degree (preferred).
  • Experience in developing current and new customer relationships, achieving sales goals, and building referral sources in insurance and investment products (required).
  • Foundational knowledge of sales and service techniques with clients, including tele-consulting, outside calling, prospecting, and networking (required).
  • Comfortable interacting with small business clients, overcoming objections, and asking fact-finding questions (preferred).
  • Interpersonal interaction skills and ability to build rapport quickly (required).
  • Demonstrated experience influencing business partners and leveraging centers of influence (required).
  • Working knowledge of PCs (MS Windows and Office Products including Word, Excel, etc.) (required).
  • Working knowledge of digital technology (mobile, apps, web-based browsing) and ability to educate clients on digital platforms (required).

Licenses and Certifications

  • FINRA License S6 (required).
  • FINRA License S63 (required).
  • FINRA Security Industry Essentials (SIE) (required).
  • Life, Accident, and Health Insurance Licenses (required).

  • Knowledgeable about clients' accounts and business with the bank; uses sound judgment with clients and transactions.
  • Demonstrated ability to attain sales and referral goals through quality conversations and recommendations.
  • Strong work ethic and high level of integrity.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Provide expert advice on managing finances, including investment strategies, retirement planning, and tax optimization.
  • Build and nurture client relationships to understand needs and provide tailored solutions.
  • Assess clients' financial situations and offer advice to achieve financial wellness.
  • Actively identify and develop new client relationships through prospecting and networking.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with high-net-worth clients.
  • Stay updated with market trends and analyze market conditions to provide informed financial advice.

Physical Demands

  • Prolonged standing (5-8 hours per day).
  • Frequent use of hands to manipulate/grasp objects.
  • Ability to communicate face-to-face and on the phone with clients.
  • Occasional bending and lifting from floor height.
  • Frequent forward reach.
  • Frequent lifting of 1–10 lbs., occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.

Driving Requirements

Ability to routinely and frequently operate a motor vehicle with a valid driver's license.

Pay

This position is eligible to earn a base hourly rate in the range of $25.00 - $38.46 per hour. Placement within the pay range may differ based on skills, experience, and geographic location. Compensation for this role also includes incentive compensation which may include production, commission, and/or discretionary incentives.
