Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse

About the role

The practical or vocational nurse provides direct patient care across diverse populations, ensuring safe, accurate, and compassionate treatment in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient assessments, administer medications, assist with diagnostic tests, and monitor patient conditions.
• Respond to urgent situations by seeking assistance and initiating emergency interventions.
• Prepare patients for examinations, educate patients and families on healthcare maintenance, and support clinic programs and procedures.
• Document all care accurately in electronic health records, maintain equipment and infection control standards, and ensure a safe, respectful environment.
• Assist with patient check-ins, verify identifiers, and facilitate scheduling.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and quality improvement initiatives.
• Support a healthy work environment by orienting peers, maintaining interpersonal relationships, and adhering to safety protocols.

Qualifications and Skills

• Must have a diploma from an accredited program.
• Must have an active unrestricted license.
• At least 24 months of recent clinical experience in patient care.
• Strong clinical judgment.
• Knowledge of disease management.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
