Licensed Practical Nurse / Registered Nurse *NEW RATES*

About the Role

Provide direct nursing care to residents and supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants. Supervision must adhere to current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations to ensure the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.

Responsibilities

• Direct the day-to-day functions of nursing assistants.
• Plan and coordinate shift services, programs, and activities with assigned nursing staff and support personnel.
• Make written and oral reports concerning shift activities as required.
• Admit, transfer, and discharge residents.
• Provide leadership to nursing personnel on your unit/shift.
• Complete and file required recordkeeping forms/charts for resident admission, transfer, and/or discharge.
• Receive and transcribe telephone orders from physicians.
• Chart nurse’s notes in an informative and descriptive manner reflecting care provided and resident response.
• Complete accident/incident reports and submit to the Director as required.
• Perform routine charting duties in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Prepare and administer medications as ordered by the physician.
• Maintain good working relationships with inter-departmental personnel to ensure nursing services meet resident needs.
• Create a warm, calm, and positive environment for residents and staff.
• Receive and give nursing reports at the start and end of shifts.
• Make rounds with physicians as necessary.
• Administer professional services such as catheterization, tube feedings, suction, wound care, colostomy care, blood draws, massages, and range of motion exercises.
• Monitor assigned personnel to ensure compliance with safety regulations for equipment and supplies.
• Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information, including protected health information.
• Ensure nursing care is provided in privacy and staff knock before entering resident rooms.
• Provide IV and IV site care as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Current unencumbered state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
• Knowledge of nursing and medical practices, procedures, and relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines for nursing care facilities.
• Current CPR Certification.
• Experience in Long Term Care is preferred.

Physical Demands

• Able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
• Able to cope with mental and emotional stress associated with the position.
• Must meet general health requirements, including a medical and physical examination.
• Able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a height of 5 feet and carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
• May need to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
