Licensed Practical Nurse - Progressive Care Unit

Responsibilities

Patients and families through the provision of direct patient care services other key customers are physicians, coworkers and other health care team members.

Insures that all contact with customers is friendly, helpful, courteous, and projects a positive image of the unit and hospital.

Requirements

• Education Requirements: Graduation from an approved School of Licensed Practical Nursing.
• Professional Experience Requirement: None.
• LICENSURE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION: Current licensure to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the state of North Carolina. BCLS Certification.

Qualifications

• Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Requirements: Good interpersonal and communication skills. Creative problem solving skills. Demonstrates skills in providing for patient care needs in accordance with age/population of patients served. Successfully completed hospital approved pharmacology examination with a score of 80 or above.

Work Environment

• Exposure to blood borne pathogens, airborne pathogens and other infectious diseases requiring the use of protective equipment; exposure to other hazards, such as radiation, toxic waste, chemical hazards, electrical hazards, etc. based on the departments.
• Stressful work periods and rotating shifts.

Physical Requirements

• Requires a range of physical activity from sedentary work to heavy work. Includes sitting, standing, walking and lifting patients; some carrying, pushing, pulling, and lifting objects involved in day-to-day activities.
• Ability to use appropriate Safe-Patient Handling equipment.
