About the Role
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will be involved in the treatment of residents.
Responsibilities
- Administer certain medications
- Observe residents and report changes in their condition
- Take and record temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure
- Obtain specimens for analysis
- Prepare and apply simple dressings
- Bathe and feed residents
- Care for residents and their quarters by performing tasks such as making beds, changing linen, lifting and moving residents, and caring for their personal effects
Requirements
- Current New York State Department of Health Veterans Home at St. Albans employee with permanent or contingent permanent status as a Licensed Practical Nurse (Reassignment)
- Current New York State employee with one or more years of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55 b/c service in a position allocated to Grade 8 or above, and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law to Licensed Practical Nurse
- A license and current registration to practice as a practical nurse in New York State; OR a limited permit to practice as a practical nurse in New York State; OR an application on file for a limited permit to practice as a practical nurse in New York State
Preferred Qualifications
- Long-term care facility experience
Pay
Posted salary range ($67,933 - $72,322) includes statutory hiring rate at step 4 and job rate for grade 10, plus a geographic pay differential of $13,000 in addition to $4,000 of Downstate Adjustment. If applicable, the inconvenience pay program of $575 per year will be paid to employees who work four (4) or more hours between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
Schedule
Available shift: 3:30 p.m. - 12:00 a.m.
