As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will be an integral part of our Behavioral Health Division, providing critical care and support to adult patients with mental illness at Norfolk Regional Center.
The Norfolk Regional Center (NRC) serves two distinct populations of adult males committed by a Mental Health Board for inpatient psychiatric treatment. In 2006, NRC began providing treatment to individuals who have sexually offended through the Nebraska Sex Offender (SO) Treatment Program, improving public safety by reducing the risk of re-offense. In 2018, NRC opened the Medical Support Program to provide high-quality nursing and medical treatment for men with significant physical conditions and a variety of psychiatric, cognitive, and aging issues.
Responsibilities
- Medication administration
- Documentation
- Initiate therapeutic interactions with patients
- Perform treatments
- Transcribe doctor's orders
- Evaluate physical health and emotional status of patients
- Perform assigned patient education
- Complete order entry
- Supply inventory and ordering; use of electronic medical record
- Contribute as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team delivering holistic and individualized care to patients
Requirements
- A current license to practice as a licensed practical nurse in Nebraska or authority based on the Nurse Licensure Compact to practice as a licensed practical nurse in Nebraska is required.
- Valid driver's license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge or experience working with patients with mental illness or psychiatric disorders.

- Work and function as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team.
Pay
Starting pay rate: $40.00/hour for new hires. Additional $3/hour facility differential pay, plus additional shift differential pay.
Schedule
Available Shift Options:
- 8-Hour Shifts:
- Day Shift: 6:45 a.m. – 3:15 p.m.
- Evening Shift: 2:45 p.m. – 11:15 p.m.
- Night Shift: 11:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
- 12-Hour Shifts:
- Midday Shift: 10:45 a.m. – 11:15 p.m.
- Day Shift: 6:45 a.m. – 7:15 p.m.
- Overnight Shift: 6:45 p.m. – 7:15 a.m.
Scheduling Structure: Our regular scheduling model offers consistency and predictability, including two 8-hour shifts and two 12-hour shifts each week, with every 3rd weekend rotation.
