Licensed Practical Nurse/Medical Assistant, Certified

About the role

This position will be filled in either the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Medical Assistant, Certified (CMA) job classification. The classification level (LPN or CMA) in which the position is filled will be determined based on the qualifications of the applicant who is selected for the position.

Responsibilities

• Perform functions related to "rooming" the incarcerated individual for practitioner examinations, including obtaining blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, weight and documenting complaints.
• Conduct phlebotomy functions with incarcerated individuals, including collecting blood and urine samples and performing other tests ordered by the practitioner.
• Conduct Blood Pressure Clinic and other chronic care clinics with incarcerated individuals.
• Administer medication as prescribed by the practitioner.

Requirements

• Licensed Practical Nurse: Graduation from an approved school of nursing plus current licensure in Minnesota as a Practical Nurse without limitations or restrictions.
• Medical Assistant, Certified: Completion of an approved training program in medical assisting plus certification or registration as a medical assistant by passing a national examination.

Qualifications

• Licensed Practical Nurse: Hands-on clinical experience providing direct patient care in a hospital, long-term care and/or clinic setting.
• Medical Assistant, Certified: Clinical experience in a correctional or secured setting.

Skills

Computer experience sufficient to complete electronic charting and use basic computer functions such as email.

$27.53 - $35.21 / hourly for Licensed Practical Nurse
$25.41 - $32.54 / hourly for Medical Assistant, Certified

Rotating Shift/Varies
