Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - School Nursing

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care for a student with complex respiratory needs throughout the school day
• Monitor health status and respond to changes in condition
• Manage tracheostomy and ventilator-related care according to physician orders and care plans
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
• Absess and respond to illness, injuries, or medical emergencies during the school day
• Maintain accurate health records and document care provided
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, therapists, and families to support the student’s health and educational goals
• Serve as a health resource for school staff and assist with health-related needs as appropriate

Requirements

• Active, unrestricted Michigan Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license
• Experience with tracheostomy and ventilator care preferred
• Experience working with pediatric patients, school settings, or medically complex individuals preferred
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with students, families, and school staff
• BLS certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross) within 90 days of hire
