A Different Kind of Nursing Role

Are you a compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who enjoys building relationships with patients, communicating with people throughout the day, and being part of a collaborative healthcare team? The Wellness Collective is looking for a Part-Time LPN to support our functional medicine and psychiatric providers in delivering personalized, whole-person care. This role offers a different pace than traditional hospital or high-volume primary care nursing. In-person patient volume is generally 16–24 visits per day, while a significant part of the role involves patient correspondence, care coordination, and supporting patients between appointments. On a typical day, you may move between preparing patients for appointments, communicating with pharmacies and laboratories, completing prior authorizations, responding to patient messages, and assisting providers with clinical follow-up. You'll work closely with experienced nurse practitioners, develop ongoing relationships with patients, and gain exposure to functional medicine, psychiatry, and integrative healthcare.

What You'll Do

As an LPN at The Wellness Collective, you'll be an important part of the clinical team, supporting patients and providers both during appointments and between visits.

Responsibilities Include

  • Prepare patients for appointments by obtaining and documenting vital signs and reviewing medications, supplements, allergies, and preferred pharmacy information
  • Support approximately 16–24 in-person patient visits per day across our functional medicine and psychiatric services
  • Manage and respond to a significant volume of patient correspondence, including phone calls and secure messages
  • Communicate with patients regarding provider treatment plans and appropriate clinical questions, escalating concerns to providers when needed
  • Complete medication prior authorizations
  • Coordinate prescriptions and communicate with pharmacies
  • Communicate with laboratories and other healthcare providers as needed
  • Perform phlebotomy as needed
  • Accurately document patient interactions, clinical information, and care coordination in the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Work closely with functional medicine and psychiatric nurse practitioners to support individualized patient care
  • Help ensure patients feel welcomed, informed, and cared for throughout their experience with our clinic
  • Assist with other nursing and clinical duties as needed

What We're Looking For

We're looking for an nurse who is compassionate, dependable, organized, responsive, and comfortable managing multiple priorities throughout the day. Because this position involves a significant amount of patient correspondence, strong written and verbal communication skills are especially important. The ideal candidate can communicate professionally with patients, recognize when a concern needs provider attention, and keep tasks moving without losing attention to detail.

Required

  • Active South Dakota nursing license
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a busy outpatient environment
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative clinical team
  • Comfort using an electronic medical record (EMR)

Preferred

  • Experience in outpatient care, primary care, behavioral health, or functional medicine
  • Phlebotomy experience
  • Experience with medication prior authorizations
  • Experience communicating with pharmacies, laboratories, or other healthcare providers
  • Experience managing a high volume of patient calls or electronic messages

Functional medicine experience is not required. We are happy to train the right nurse who is curious about personalized and integrative healthcare.
